On Saturday August 25th the Sacks family hosted the 1st Annual Owen Shoots For A Cure T1D Charity Hockey Tournament. It was a fun fast paced 3 vs 3 afternoon of hockey at the Meachem Ice Rink in Syracuse NY. The tournament consisted of 12 teams, 4 mite age and 8 squirt age. Each team played 3 games and then were seeded for a final game of the day. After each game an MVP from both teams was chosen and awarded an MVP medal. The Sacks were also kind enough to provide lunch for the players to keep everyone fueled up.
Not only did we have a mite team in the tournament we also had an information table and merchandise for sale. In addition to the tournament fee funds were raised with a 50/50 raffle and a large banner raffle donated by the Syracuse Crunch. The event was a big success raising $3,000 for the JDRF.
We would like to thank the Sacks family for hosting a great event. Everyone had a fantastic time and we appreciate all the hard work that goes into putting on a well organized event like this. We are already looking forward to next year!
